About Us
Art of the Heart features handmade art products created by Rhoda and Dave Michaelynn. Items include handcrafted turned and carved wood products, pottery, fiber arts, water color prints and more which are sold as a fundraiser to support adolescent mental health in Minnesota.
After the death of their 18 year old son Adam as a result of an accidental overdose, they turned to art as a form of grief therapy. At the request of friends who liked their creations, they started Art of the Heart. Since 2017 they have proudly donated more than $40,000 from the sale of their art, to support non-profits in Minnesota.
Rhoda and Dave believe Art of the Heart has so many benefits:
- There is joy in the process of creating art.
- It allows us to honor our son and and all those who struggle with mental health challenges.
- We can generate money to support the work of non-profit organizations in Minnesota.
- We are able to openly discuss mental health disease which reduces stigma, and supports those who might otherwise feel alone.
Who We Support
Proceeds from Art of the Heart sales in 2024 are donated to "Change the Outcome". This MN non-profit works to combat substance use disorder and overdose through education. ChangetheOutcome.org
